The past ages of man have all been carefully labelled by anthropologists. Deions like “Palaeolithic Man”. “Neolithic Man”, etc., neatly sum up whole periods. When the time comes for anthropologists to turn their attention to the twentieth century, they will surely choose the label “Legless Man”. Histories of the time will go something like this:” In the twentieth century, people forgot how to use their legs. Men and women moved about in cars, buses and trains from a very early age. There were lifts and escalators in all large building to prevent people from walking. This situation was forced upon earth-dwellers of that time because of their extraordinary way of life. In those days, people thought nothing of travelling hundreds of miles each day.But the surprising thing is that they didn’t use their legs even when they went on holiday. They built cable railways, ski-lifts and roads to the top of every huge mountain. All the beauty spots on earth were marred by the presence of large car parks.”
The future history books might also record that we were deprived of the use of our eyes.In our hurry to get from one place to another,we failed to see anything on the way.Air travel gives you a bird’s-eye view of the world-or even less if the wing of the aircraft happens to get in your way. When you travel by car or train a blurred image of the countryside constantly smears the windows.Car drivers,in particular, are forever obsessed with the urge to go on and on:they never want to stop.Is it the lure of the great motorways,or what? And as for sea travel,it hardly deserves mention. It is perfectly summed up in the words of the old song:”I joined the navy to see the world, and what did I see?I saw the sea.”The typical twentieth-century traveller is the man who always says “I’ve been there.”You mention the remotest, most evocative place-names in the world like El Dorado,Kabul,Irkutsk and someone is bound to say “I’ve been there”-meaning,”I drove through it at 100 miles an hour on the way to somewhere else.”
When you travel at high speeds, the present means nothing: you live mainly in the future because you spend most of your time lookiong forward to arriving at some other place. But actual arrival, when it is achieved, is meaningless. You want to move on again. By travelling like this, you suspend all experience; the present ceased to be a reality: you might just as well be dead. The traveller on foot, on the other hand, lives constantly in the present. For him travelling and arriving are one and the same thing: he arrives somewhere with every step he makes. He experiences the present moment with his eyes, his ears and the whole of his body. At the end of his journey he feels a delicious physical weariness. He knows that sound, satisfying sleep will be his: the just reward of all true travellers.

Recently I have seen the curling sport for many times in TV.It is so interesting that I want to play it,but I don’t know anything about it.Now through the internet,I find some information about curling and it is as follows:
Curling is a team sport with similarities to bowls and shuffleboard, played by two teams of four players each on a rectangular sheet of carefully prepared ice. Teams take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones down the ice towards the target (called the house). Two sweepers with brooms accompany each rock and use timing equipment and their best judgment, along with direction from their teammates, to help direct the stones to their resting place. The complex nature of stone placement and shot selection has led some to refer to curling as “chesson ice.”
in this picture, four curling sheets are shown.

I called a good friend the day before yesterday, refer to the marriagement each other. She planned to buy house in Changsha city.I said to envy her only because it’s impossible for me to buy house at present.
After then, she asked something about myself, including my boyfriend.
Needless to say,he was born at the country and not rich for his family.
In my surprising, she told me not to contact with him any more. What’s more, she would help me have another rich boyfriend.
I have nothing to say.Frankly speaking,I don’t know what to say.So many persons asked such questions to me,including parents, relatives and friends. Before,I never considered what they said to me,of course, what they thought is good for me inner heart.
But now,I am contradiction and hesitated if I’m back.

In Jamaica, the popular mantra goes “we likkle but we tallawah” which, basically translated from patois to English, means “we are small but we are talented”.
That was borne out on the greatest stage of all this time last year when the Caribbean island of about three million souls wowed the word. The country swept the men’s and women’s sprint events at the Beijing Games on its merry way to a record haul of 11 medals including half a dozen of the most important hue, gold.
The athletes’ heroics sent the island into a nationalistic frenzy not seen since Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz soccer team qualified for the 1998 World Cup and then Prime Minister PJ Patterson declared a public holiday.
Led by larger-than-life Usain Bolt, who stole the show in the second week of the Olympics with three world records in three golden performances, the men and women in green, gold and black finally usurped their great northern neighbors, the United States, as the pre-eminent power in sprinting.

The mouth-watering sprint duel between Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay will headline the World Athletics Championships here, offering up what should be one of the most eagerly awaited events ever.
Bolt took the Beijing Olympics by storm last summer, the towering, laid-back Jamaican winning the sprint double gold and also claiming gold as part of Jamaica’s 4×100m relay team, all won – amazingly – in world record times.
He has continued his impressive form into this season, but the year’s best marks in both the 100 and 200m races (9.77 and 19.58 respectively) have been set by archrival Gay, the American who endured a miserable Olympics after rushing back from a debilitating hamstring injury.

The United States has the world’s best track and field team, and it aims to keep its No. 1 position at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Berlin, the head coach of the U.S. team Harvey Glance said on Saturday.
“We hope to have the finest World Championships we have ever had. I think we have the talent on this team to make that happen,” Glance told a press conference at the Berlin Olympic Statium, where some 2,000 athletes will compete in the next nine days.
“We are considered the beat track and field team in the world. I hope by the time we leave Berlin, with the talent that we have, that we continue to hold that title,” Glance added.
The U.S. track and field team has dominated the 11 previous World Championships with its overall total of 228 medals (110 gold, 60 silver and 38 bronze medals). Russia is in second place on the all-time medal table with 122 medals (33 gold, 51 silver and 38 bronze medals).
The highly accomplished 2009 U.S. team consists of 20 Olympic medallists, 28 World Championships medallists and 10 American record holders.
Reigning world champions include Tyson Gay, who will look to defend his world 100m and 200m titles.
